Epsilon/Conversant is a juggernaut in the digital marketing and advertising industry — combining the SCIENCE of data, machine learning, brand intelligence and insights with the ART of dynamic creative and personalization to connect brands with people. We drive marketing strategies and campaigns for some of the world’s most recognizable brands across verticals like retail, finance, travel, restaurants and more.
Within Epsilon/Conversant we have 5 primary operational branches: Epsilon Tech is equipped with the largest consumer data set in the US and Canada — featuring the #1 ranked email platform (Harmony). Epsilon Data which boasts transactional data on nearly $3.6 trillion in purchases and a 95% client renewal rate.
Epsilon Auto serves 7 of the top 10 global auto OEMs, with over 12,000 individual dealership customers and 300 million unique VINs. Epsilon Agency offers advanced analytics: statistics and predictive modeling, attribution modeling, reporting, and campaign performance data visualization and of course, Conversant.
The ecosystem of tools that helps us accomplish this includes our client-facing campaign management platform, our Publisher integration platform and the suite of tools and applications that have been built out by our Creative Technology teams to automate and scale the creative development process.
UX is housed under Creative to ensure full autonomy when contributing to projects and across various teams. The UX discipline is leveled out with the same seat at the table as any of our other teams.
The design system offers two dedicated themes, a library of 65+ components, new global add-ons and guidelines for our enterprise-level development teams across divisions like Epsilon Tech, Epsilon Data, Epsilon Auto, Epsilon Agency and Conversant. It serves Clients with key tools like campaign setup, integration, audiences, reporting and 15+ others. On the Publisher side it enables PUB UI, administration and product lookup. On the developer tools it serves key apps to optimize workflows such as Grasshopper, Kepler and Alecto.
In order to solve the challenge of displaying data consistently, we recognized the need to create a company design language for product applications. Establishing key decisions for color, typography, grid system, and motion was key to building a foundation for the design system. The result is a design system that creates a platform that is a light, minimalist, and an intuitive product personalized for each user persona to help them achieve everything they need.
Designed for fully responsive screens such as platform tools and dashboards for programmatic campaign management. The files are updated regularly to provide clarity and consistency with the design team. These tools are essential for building conceptual layouts that ensure fluid design-to-development workflows
Designed for experiences with less space such as developer tools, software extensions and plugins. Key steps of the creation process for both systems are: Technical audit, application component evaluation, component design, technical design specs, development/engineering collaboration, usability testing, compatibility testing.
Kepler is an application embedded directly into Adobe After-effects creating a direct line between the design, production and development of our video assets. Kepler contains various integration points into the Conversant adserver to streamline the workflow of the creative team members as they push creative artifacts from dev/client preview to production.
Fonts of Fury is a server-side solution bypassing the recurring licensing fees for web-font usage by converting standard font file formats (desk-top license with one-time, non-recurring license purchase fee) into bitmap sprite sheets with character positioning & font styling (leading / kerning) metadata embedded into the font artifacts.
Grasshopper is an application extension built directly into Adobe Illustrator, the industry-standard design tool. It allows the Art Director to design without compromising the visual integrity and representation of the brand. It facilitates a seamless handoff to the Digital Production team as the files are consistent and standardized, and it removes the Creative Technologist (front-end developer) entirely from the process of creative campaign generation.

200% INCREASE in weekly client logins One of our most impressive metrics after implementing CUI related to usage of our Publisher UI tool. Weekly client logins increased dramatically, showing that if you provide a superior experience, users are encouraged to use the product.
I joined the UX team as a lead designer for CUI, helping to establish the overall design direction for the system, working closely with the UX lead designer, Molly Deutmeyer. My approach to design quickly helped the extended team to mature their thinking, evolving from a focus on features to a holistic comprehension of the role of visual design principles or gestalt into the user experience, consistent with foundational attributes of lightness, clarity and elegance.
I had the opportunity to manage a small team of UI and motion designers, helping them with design direction, task management and professional development. In this capacity I was responsible to oversee the execution, completion and hand off of tickets, while being an active voice in advocating for the elevation of the craft and facilitating their input and fostering a culture of trust, open communication and transparency.
